The Matcon Solids Discharge Valve is a key part
of our core technology. It is used to discharge solids from storage
bins or silos with capacities ranging from a few kilograms to thousands
of tonnes. It may be manufactured in mild steel or stainless steel
and can be applied in almost any industry.
For very large applications Matcon
have developed the Tandem system which has a fixed upper cone, with
a set annular gap, above the Matcon discharger valve. This upper cone
absorbs the large headload of the product in storage. By intermittently
vibrating this upper cone, material can be fed down to the discharger
valve as needed.
The Matcon Discharger Valve provides three basic advantages to its
thousands of users all around the world.
Discharger:- The powerful lifting
and vibrating action of the cone valve easily overcomes bridging,
ratholing and other flow problems. A major benefit of the cone valve
is that it promotes 'mass-flow' thus eliminating segregation.
Valve:- Because it opens and closes vertically
the cone valve can be shut off at any time to stop flow of product
completely. This is difficult or impossible with other types of
valves that cannot close effectively once flow has started. Once
closed, the valve prevents all discharge of product. The valve closes
under gravity and the weight of material overhead, thus is totally
failsafe.
Feeder:- Because it can be controlled so easily,
the Matcon Discharger Valve is frequently used to meter material
from storage, perhaps at a controlled rate or to a level sensor
or to a specified weight.
